The Bakhtiaris are Lurish people living in southwestern Iran. They speak the Bakhtiari dialect belonging to the Luri languages group.. In Persian mythology, Bakhtiaris consider themselves to be descendants of Fereydun, a legendary hero from the Persian national epic "Shahnameh"... The term "bakhtiari" has deep Persian roots, and can be best translated as "companion of chance" or "bearer of good luck".
